Alberton is fortunate to have a pleasant climate throughout the year with summer stretching from October to March. Warm summer days and cool nights can also be expected in summer as well as rainfall.

During winter days the temperature can reach 25 degree with nights being cold. During the months of May to August frost can also be expected.

Alberton is situated around 15km from Johannesburg, with most of its residence earning a living working in the nearby cities and suburbs. Alberton has large industrial areas and has become a part of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

Being situated on the East Rand, resident can take advantage of the variety of shopping centres in the area, one of them being the East Rand Mall, which is only 5 minutes away.

Carry travellers cheques rather than large amounts of cash. Do not countersign the cheques until you actually need to use them. Separate cash from credit cards. Make a note of your credit card numbers, the customer service numbers for issuing banks, etc. Put the note in a sealed envelope and ask the hotel front desk to keep it for you.
